Changelog

What changed, and why.

A record of releases and refinements to Recto. We keep this page honest — including the things we removed.

v2.0.0

October 2026

A new studio

The builder was rebuilt around a single idea: write like a person, and let the page take care of the rest.

  • Four page architectures

    feature

Classic, Editorial, and Ledger. Each one arranges the same story differently — a single ATS-safe column, numbered sections with a notes column, or a masthead with an indexed body.

  • Guided source editor

    feature

You write in plain text with examples beside you. Lines beginning with % are private notes that never appear in the preview or the PDF.

  • Live A4 proof

    feature

The page is typeset as you type, fitted to your window, and printed exactly as it appears on screen.

  • Warm, quieter interface

    improvement

A paper-and-ink palette, editorial typography, and far less chrome. The page is the interface.

  • Local-first storage

    improvement

Your source, chosen layout, and ink are saved automatically in this browser. No account, no upload, no server copy.

v1.6.0

September 2026

Anonymous by default

The product no longer asks you to sign in to do the thing it exists to do.

  • No sign-in required

    feature

The resume builder opens directly. Accounts, profile prompts, and the settings pages that came with them were removed.

  • Anonymous feedback and bug reports

    improvement

Share feedback or report a bug from the Help menu without creating a profile. Attach a screenshot if it helps explain what happened.

  • Print reliability

    fix

Printing now isolates the A4 page from the application shell, so browsers no longer clip, scale, or paginate the resume incorrectly.

v1.5.0

January 2025

Mobile experience

  • Mobile-first builder

    feature

A full-screen preview, a dedicated writing surface, and controls that stay reachable on a phone.

  • Dynamic preview zoom

    improvement

The page scales to fit the available space instead of forcing horizontal scrolling.

  • Email preferences

    feature

Subscribers can manage or stop studio updates from any email footer.

v1.4.0

December 2024

Admin tools and email

  • Admin dashboard

    feature

A private panel for reviewing feedback, bug reports, and subscriber activity.

  • Email templates

    feature

Editorial templates for updates, new journal entries, and bug-fix notes.

  • API caching

    improvement

Admin endpoints cache reads to reduce database calls.

v1.3.0

November 2024

The journal

  • Markdown journal

    feature

SEO-friendly essays and practical notes on resumes and hiring.

  • Better section writing

    improvement

Clearer guidance for summaries, bullets, and project entries in the source format.

v1.2.0

October 2024

Live preview and print

  • Real-time preview

    feature

See the page update as you write, with an A4 preview at its true proportions.

  • PDF export

    feature

Print or save a text-based PDF from the browser, with no watermark.

v1.0.0

August 2024

Initial release

  • A free resume builder

    feature

A simple way to write an ATS-friendly resume without an account.
